Basic Info
Name:Kapulani Lulu
Location:United States
Bio
[info]clairbourn
CHARACTER NAME: Lulu Kapulani (surname invented for AU)
FANDOM: Final Fantasy X
AGE: 24
GRADE: Teacher (sex ed)

HISTORY: Hawaiian of Okinawan descent, Ms. Kapulani is the daughter of a midwife, and a raku pottery artist--both now deceased. Raised with a blend of Catholicism and Shinto, she has also explored Wicca and shamanism, and--of course--holds a degree in biology.

Professionally speaking, she is quite successful for a woman of her age, but her personal life is one fraught with tragedy, having lost both her parents and her fiancée, all within a short time-span. Not one to be easily discouraged, however, she continues to pursue her goals and ambitions to the best of her ability.

Having always excelled in her studies, she began tutoring in high school and often found herself acting as a mentor to young people around her, so it seemed only natural to pursue her college education with a teaching career in mind. She completed her student teaching in Hawaii and attained her license there, working as a substitute for two years before relocating upper forty-eight, where she was eventually offered a position at Clairbourn High--and still holds licensure in multiple states.

Personality: Though she is quite outspoken, and sometimes a bit scathing, Lulu tends to be very private when it comes to her personal life--for a number of reasons. Despite the fact that she was always taught to treat her body as a temple, she has been known to smoke a cigarette or two, and heaven help anyone who gets between her and her two best friends: Ben and Jerry who really are god's gift to women. However, beneath her sometimes cynical exterior, she is a very caring, compassionate, and intelligent woman who is not afraid to stand up for what she believes is right.

Strengths: Quick witted and confidant, Lulu's greatest strength is perhaps her determination to persevere not matter what sort of struggle she may face in her life and in her career. Her maturity and well-grounded nature give her an edge on some of her peers, while her relative youth makes her approachable and easily able to relate to her students.

Weaknesses: Her quick wit is matched by her sharp tongue, which covers up the fact that she is a deeply emotional person who does not always like to be confronted with her own feelings. She also tends to have a weakness for handsome young men with lofty aspirations, which may at times pose a dilemma, given her closeness in age to some of her older students. Thus, in her efforts to remain professionally detached, she sometimes comes of as standoffish, aloof, and in layman’s terms...kind of a bitch. Flirtations aside, she is also reluctant to get too close to her own peers, due to lingering fears of being hurt by losing anyone again.

FIRST PERSON: All right everyone, you know the thrill. Exam time is just around the corner, and I expect you all to be present and accounted for. We will be covering basic anatomy and physiology of the reproductive system, as well as the chapter on reproductive and sexual health, so be sure to brush up on proper--technical--terminology. I'm sure most of you probably think you know everything there is to know about the subject, so now is the time to put that knowledge to the test. Let’s see how you perform under pressure. No pun intended.

THIRD PERSON: Lulu strode into the classroom, her skirt-suit impeccably tailored so that it was snug in all the right places, knowing that all eyes would be on her as she perched on the edge of her desk and leaned forward engagingly.

"When I was your age--which wasn't all that long ago," she said, "I went to a private, Catholic school for girls only." She paused, surveying the classroom, pointedly catching the eyes of a few of her students. "I went to an all-girls' school," she said again, "And one morning when we all came in to class, Sister Ignatia said 'Girls, today we have with us two young men from the 3M corporation, and they are here to teach you how to reproduce.'"

Another pause as she waited for the snickering to die down. "'And to make sure you learn to do it properly,'" she quoted, "'They are going to take you one at a time.'" She kept her expression absolutely impassive as she waited for the room to come to attention again before she added, deadpan, "If only sex ed had been half as interesting."
